American Progressive Telugu Association (APTA) cordially welcomes all Telugu people!! Telugu speaking people from the concentrated areas of the East and the West coasts joined together and decided to develop a good networking for people of the Telugu origin residing in the United States. Accordingly, the core team completed formalities to incorporate APTA as an organization of “Not-for-profit” and got the Tax ID : 26-2189788 number from Internal Revenue Service of Federal Government. Simultaneously, the core team also organized an election for the members of the executive and declared office bearers elected for the year 2008. The constitution & bylaws subcommittee is currently pursuing necessary paperwork with IRS for getting tax exemption status for APTA under 501 C (3) of Treasury rules. The next immediate major goal for APTA is to recruit at least 1000 members by 2016 and take it to 10000 by year 2020. To accomplish this goal APTA nominated a Chairman for the Membership Drive. As part of its goals and objectives, APTA established its first program called

“APTA Student Education Program (ASEP)”

Under the chair of an experienced senior APTA member. This program is supported by a five member strong team to find resources for funding this program as well identify student beneficiaries for the year 2008.  APTA’s connectivity program will be manned by Regional Vice Presidents representing ten regions in US (Northeast, Southeast, North, Central, South and West) assisted by “State Coordinators” from each of the states in US and “City Coordinators” for the major Telugu concentrated cities in US (such as the Bay Area, Dallas, Washington DC, NYC etc) and assist APTA’s membership in their needs. This will be the website with variety of pieces of information for the benefit of APTA membership. A team of enthusiastic APTA members will be managing day-to-day activities of this website under the chairmanship of a dedicated APTA Member. This website is being designed to serve as a means of communication between the executive and the membership. This website will have several features including contacts for the members serving the in-country network in different cities of US. This will have a dedicated place for open discussions on all round constructive topics. The website team is working hard to get it live by May 15th, 2015.   APTA will come up with a unique program to recognize talents in different fields from the Telugu community. APTA would like to institute several “International Awards” for people from Telugu community, with distinguished accomplishments in some specialized fields. These awards will be instituted in the name of some of the current/past eminent personalities from Telugu community. APTA in an effort to enlighten its membership with right advice from seniors, planned discussion groups under the heads of “Students Forum”, “Women Forum”, “Business Executives Forum”, “Legal Forum”, “Medical Forum”, and “Professionals Forum”. APTA has different kinds of memberships called Donor members (Contributors of $1000 and above), Life members, Annual members and Student members. APTA also has plans to bring an annual directory of its members and distribute it to all APTA members for a better connectivity. Finally, it is needless to say that, APTA derives its energies from its very young bubbly membership with an average age of 30 years. With this background, APTA is sure to reach its targeted levels of growth and will be one of the best institutions in the service of Telugu people in US. APTA will be an organization in style for its members insuring them the best inbuilt connectivity while they are in America. One Final word: APTA would wish to see that all its members are well connected with each other through friendship and emotional integration. Now it is your turn to be part of this great organization and be of mutual help to the blessed Telugu community in US.
